The Coalition formed in 2020, born from community grief over multiple suicides spanning eight years. From those first conversations came a shared mission: educate the public and mobilize resources to prevent further loss.
Rural Choice Champion Grant Ignites Progress
In September 2022, Alexis O’Hair, Morton County Economic Development Director, collaborated with Lt. Gov. David Toland to secure the Rural Choice Champion grant. This funding enabled the Coalition to hire Mike Horton as the dedicated "boots on the ground" coordinator and identify sites for 988 Hope Kiosks across three communities.
