Suicide does not discriminate by countries, states, communities, beliefs, culture, race, generations, or financial status. However, it often exists within a box of silence shaped by beliefs, culture, and the fear of judgment. The Morton County Community Coalition took action by introducing three 988 kiosks in the area, aiming to spark conversations that offer hope and support to those who feel trapped in silence. The coalition organized Be Seen In Green walks to turn awareness into action. Programs and QPR guidelines are presented to groups and business safety training. Educational materials are distributed to senior centers, schools, health entities, and businesses. Standing In The GAP area training for schools, health, and faith-based training was hosted in Elkhart. We attend numerous health fairs and fundraisers in memory of those lost to suicide.
Death by suicide ripples through survivors in many ways, impacting their mental health and well-being. The isolation and silence that often accompany this tragedy can put their minds and health at risk for numerous reasons. Mental health is influenced by various factors, including substance and physical abuse, food deserts, financial struggles, healthcare access, and the well-being of children and adults. Veterans, schools, agricultural producers, and entire communities face these challenges daily.
You, your friends, your family, and your co-workers can make a significant difference. By purchasing tickets, you are joining a movement that emphasizes the power of unity. Together, we can create a supportive environment where everyone feels heard and filled with hope.
